Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) Kendari, located in Indonesia, is a public school that caters to students in grades 7-9. It was established back in 1947 and has a strong reputation for providing top-notch education in the Kendari region. On the first step inside the school, you're greeted with an impressive sight – a collection of numerous trophies and awards. These trophies are a testament to the incredible achievements of the school, all thanks to the exceptional talents and hard work of its students. They're not just decorations; they're a symbol of the school's dedication to excellence.

These awards cover a wide range of competitions, from pageants and debates to storytelling, dancing, and singing. Behind every one of these awards are teachers who've played a crucial role in mentoring and training the students to represent their school with pride. As students pass by these trophies, they can't help but feel inspired. The school campus is quite spacious and well-maintained. Most classrooms are equipped with air conditioners or large wall fans for a comfortable learning environment. Cleanliness is a priority, with trash bins conveniently placed around the school. And when hunger strikes, there are not one, not two, but four canteens serving snacks to students and teachers.
For those who love books, there's an air-conditioned library stocked with well-organized books. This library also doubles as a practice room for students on debate teams.
SMP Kendari doesn't just focus on academics; they believe in holistic development. Every Friday, they offer a variety of extracurricular activities, including dance, sports, and arts, making learning more enjoyable and engaging.
Health is a priority too, with a clinic that provides free medical assistance to students feeling unwell. It's well-equipped to ensure everyone's well-being.


In terms of academics, the school follows the government curriculum but goes beyond the basics. They offer support through extracurricular activities, a library for collaborative learning, and peer mentoring programs to help students excel.

When the teachers enter the classroom, they greet the students and then introduce an energizer activity before starting the main lesson. This engagement strategy helps develop the students' attention and participation. Afterward, the teacher introduces the learning objectives that they have created for the students. These objectives serve as a guide for the students to be aware of their goals during the lesson. The discussion part of the lesson involves various activities, such as searching and reporting. This student-centered approach allows students to explore, read, and utilize their critical thinking skills. They are responsible for their own learning in this process. Afterward, the students are required to report on their findings, which helps boost their confidence and communication skills. Following the student reports, the teacher and students engage in a question-and-answer session. This is an effective way to test the student's understanding and mastery of the material. However, I have also observed that some teachers use a lecture method, where they discuss the subject and then either the students or the teacher asks questions about the lesson.
